Title: Compassion

Original Unedited Version

I opened my eyes to see myself standing somewhere surrounded by fog, shadow and smoke. It was dark around me. I can’t even see my own feet.

Slowly the fog cleared and I became aware of people around me. All of them are walking in one direction. All of them with their heads and shoulders down and covered in old blanket around their body. Maybe, to protect them from the cold.

As I look at them, I felt a rush of compassion enveloped me.

Suddenly, a voice: “Don’t feel compassion for them. They will see you.”

But before I can even understand what it meant… A giant being walk straight to me. Holding something in his right hand, it looks like a piece of wood as big as a tree, a weapon.

The giant is about three and half meters in height. As big as a house, its body, wide with bulging muscles.

The warning was too late. They had seen me.

I was still trying to digest the size of this being in front of me. Looking it up and down, not realising the danger I was in - when I felt my physical body violently pulled back.

I woke up.

End here

I opened my eyes to find myself standing somewhere in fog, shadow, and smoke.
It was dark.
I couldn’t even see my own feet.

Slowly, the fog cleared.
And I became aware of people around me.

All of them were walking in one direction.
Heads down. Shoulders down.
Wrapped in old blankets,
maybe to protect themselves from the cold.

As I watched them,
a rush of compassion filled me.

Then, a voice:
“Don’t feel compassion for them.
They will see you.”

Before I could understand what, it meant —
a giant was walking straight toward me.

In his right hand, he held something.
It looked like a piece of wood.
As big as a tree.
A weapon.

He was about three and a half meters tall.
As big as a house.
Wide body. Bulging muscles.

The warning came too late.
They had seen me.

I was still trying to process the size of the being in front of me.
Looking up and down,
not realizing the danger I was in —

when I felt my physical body violently pulled back.

I woke up.
